Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups buttermilk or substitute with 2 tbsp vinegar + 2 cups milk
  • 4 cups flour all-purpose
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2/3 cup sugar for cinnamon swirl
  • 2 tsp cinnamon for cinnamon swirl

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • 9x5 inch loaf pans
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife for swirling

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add the buttermilk, flour, and baking soda, mixing until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the 2/3 cup sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  4. Pour half of the batter into each loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter in each pan. Swirl the cinnamon-sugar into the batter using a knife.
  5. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the bread cool in the pans for 20 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of white in the cinnamon swirl.
• Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent a dense texture.
• Serve warm with a pat of butter for an indulgent treat.
Food Safety:
• Ensure the bread is fully cooled before storing to prevent moisture buildup.
• Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
