Method
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add uncooked macaroni to the pot. Simmer until macaroni is tender, about 10-12 minutes.
- If using, stir in frozen mixed vegetables and cook until heated through, about 5 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot.
Notes
Chef's Tips:
• For a richer flavor, use beef bone broth instead of regular beef broth
• Avoid overcooking the macaroni to prevent it from becoming mushy
• Serve with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or grated Parmesan for added flavor
Food Safety:
• Ensure ground beef is cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C)
• Refrigerate leftovers within two hours and consume within 3-4 days
