Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce Low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 inch Ginger Fresh, minced
  • 1 head Broccoli Cut into florets
  • 8 oz Mushrooms Sliced, any variety
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch Optional, for thickening
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds For garnish
  • 2 stalks Green onions Sliced, for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring spoons
  • Chef's knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add broccoli and mushrooms to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables start to soften.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the vegetables. Add water and stir well. If using cornstarch, mix it with a little water and add it to the skillet to thicken the sauce.
  5. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp and the mushrooms are cooked through.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a more intense flavor, marinate the mushrooms in soy sauce for 10 minutes before cooking.
• Avoid overcooking the broccoli to maintain its vibrant color and crisp texture.
• Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure vegetables are cooked to a safe temperature to avoid foodborne illnesses.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking.
