Ingredients

  • 4 slices Sourdough bread Choose a hearty, thick-cut loaf
  • 8 slices Turkey Deli or leftover roasted turkey
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese Shredded or thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise For spreading on bread
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard Optional, for added flavor
  • 2 tbsp Butter Softened, for grilling

Equipment

  • Skillet or griddle
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise. Add a layer of turkey slices, followed by a generous amount of cheddar cheese. If using, spread Dijon mustard on the unbuttered side of the other two slices of bread and place them on top of the cheese, buttered side up.
  3. Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  4. Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, then slice and serve.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a crispier sandwich, use a panini press instead of a skillet.
• Avoid overfilling the sandwich to prevent the cheese from spilling out during cooking.
• Serve with a side of pickles or a simple salad for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure turkey is heated to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) if using deli meat.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
