Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix Plus ingredients listed on the box (usually water, oil, eggs)
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed
  • 1/2 cup butter Melted
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese Softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. While the cake is baking, prepare the cinnamon-sugar mixture. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, melted butter, and ground cinnamon. Mix until well combined.
  3. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake, about 1 inch apart.
  4. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes. Then, spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top of the cake. Let the cake cool completely.
  5. For the frosting, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
• Avoid overmixing the frosting to keep it light and fluffy.
• Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
Food Safety:
• Ensure the cake is fully cooled before refrigerating to prevent condensation.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
