Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets skin-on, about 6 oz each
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce low-sodium
  • 2 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional, for heat
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • 2 tbsp green onions sliced, for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Pastry brush
  • Meat thermometer

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, olive oil, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. This will be your glaze.
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top of each fillet generously with the honey garlic glaze, reserving some for basting.
  4. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Baste the salmon with the remaining glaze halfway through cooking.
  5. Once cooked, remove the salmon from the oven. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a thicker glaze, simmer the glaze mixture in a saucepan for a few minutes before brushing onto the salmon.
• Avoid overcooking the salmon to prevent it from becoming dry. Use a meat thermometer to check doneness.
• Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) to be safely cooked.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking and consume within three days.
