Method
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
- Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Brush the dough with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long end to the other, then cut into 8 equal pieces. Place the pieces cut-side up in a greased loaf pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- While the bread is baking, prepare the icing by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm bread before serving.
