  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup milk mixed with 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for cinnamon swirl
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon for cinnamon swirl

Equipment

  • 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife for swirling

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the swirl.

  7. Use a knife to swirl the cinnamon-sugar mixture through the batter.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a more intense cinnamon flavor, increase the cinnamon in the swirl to 1 tablespoon.
• Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent a dense texture.
• Serve warm with a spread of butter for an indulgent treat.
Food Safety:
• Ensure the bread reaches an internal temperature of 190°F (88°C) for food safety.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
