Ingredients

  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan grated
  • 1/4 cup gouda shredded
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
  • 4 slices bread thick-cut, toasted

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, and shredded gouda. Stir in the chopped thyme and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the toasted bread slices. Top each slice with the sautéed mushrooms.
  5. Place the assembled toasts on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For best results, use a variety of mushrooms like cremini, shiitake, and oyster for added depth of flavor.
• Avoid overcooking the mushrooms, as they can become rubbery.
• Serve with a sprinkle of fresh herbs for an extra touch of elegance.
Food Safety:
• Ensure mushrooms are cooked thoroughly to kill any potential bacteria.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking.
