Method
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
- While the sauce simmers, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the turkey sauce in the skillet, tossing to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the pasta to absorb some of the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
Chef's Tips:
• For a creamier sauce, add a splash of heavy cream or milk at the end of cooking
• Avoid overcooking the pasta to maintain its texture in the final dish
• Serve with a side salad for a complete meal
Food Safety:
• Ensure ground turkey is cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C)
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
