Ingredients

  • 12 slider buns preferably soft and fresh
  • 2 cups leftover turkey shredded or thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce preferably homemade
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese cut into quarters
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds optional for topping

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard. Spread this mixture evenly over the bottom halves of the buns.
  3. Layer the shredded or sliced turkey evenly over the mayonnaise-mustard spread. Spoon the cranberry sauce over the turkey, ensuring even distribution.
  4. Place the quartered Swiss cheese slices on top of the cranberry sauce. Cover with the top halves of the buns.
  5. Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter and sprinkle with poppy seeds if using.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the buns are lightly toasted.
  7. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice into individual sliders and serve warm.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a crisper bun, broil the sliders for the last 1-2 minutes of baking.
• Avoid over-saucing to prevent soggy sliders; a little cranberry sauce goes a long way.
• Serve with a side of gravy for dipping to enhance the Thanksgiving flavors.
Food Safety:
• Ensure turkey is reheated to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) to ensure food safety.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days.
