Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz each, skin on
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup pure, not imitation
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp ginger freshly grated
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper freshly ground

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or cooking spray
  • Small bowl
  • Whisk
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper to create the glaze.
  3. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the glaze generously over the top of each fillet.
  4. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a moist and flavorful result.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a more caramelized glaze, broil the salmon for the last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
• Avoid overcooking the salmon to prevent it from becoming dry.
• Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for food safety.
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within two hours of cooking.
