Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend recommended for juiciness
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 Swiss cheese slices
  • 4 hamburger buns toasted

Equipment

  • Grill or skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Skillet for mushrooms

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Form into 4 patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with sautéed mushrooms and a slice of Swiss cheese. Cover to melt the cheese.
  5. Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For best results, use a meat thermometer to check doneness
• Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain juices
• Serve with a side of crispy fries for a classic burger experience
Food Safety:
• Ensure burgers reach an internal temperature of 160°F to kill harmful bacteria
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking
