Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional, for extra chocolate flavor

Equipment

  • 8x8 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Whisk until well combined and smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Sift the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt into the wet ingredients. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. If using, fold in the chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips.
• Avoid overbaking to keep brownies fudgy.
• Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
Food Safety:
• Ensure eggs are at room temperature to prevent scrambling when mixed with melted butter.
• Store brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
