Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 85% lean recommended
  • 4 cups broccoli florets cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium preferred
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger freshly grated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Small bowl for mixing sauce
  • Whisk
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until well combined. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet with the beef. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
  4. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and drizzle with sesame oil. Stir to combine.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a richer flavor, marinate the ground beef in a bit of soy sauce and garlic for 15 minutes before cooking.
• Avoid overcooking the broccoli to maintain its vibrant color and crisp texture.
• Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Food Safety:
• Ensure ground beef is cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to kill harmful bacteria.
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
