Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80/20 lean-to-fat ratio preferred
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs plain or seasoned
  • 1/4 cup milk whole or 2%
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Tablespoon or small ice cream scoop
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop, portion the meat mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  5. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a make-ahead option, freeze uncooked meatballs on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 3 months
• Avoid overmixing the meat mixture to prevent tough meatballs
• Serve with toothpicks for easy party snacking
Food Safety:
• Ensure meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) to kill harmful bacteria
• Store leftovers in the refrigerator within 2 hours of cooking
