Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or 1/2 cup milk mixed with 1/2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted, divided
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk or more as needed for glaze

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking dish
  • Parchment paper
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a small baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the buttermilk and 1 tablespoon of melted butter, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1 minute. Roll the dough into a 9x7 inch rectangle.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Brush the dough with the remaining 1 tablespoon of melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Starting from one of the long sides, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 6 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.
  8. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls and serve immediately.
