Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk warmed to about 110°F
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened, for filling
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups strawberries fresh, diced
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk for glaze
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Rolling Pin
  • Sharp knife or dental floss for cutting rolls
  • Whisk for glaze

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and eggs. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12x18 inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon over the butter, then evenly distribute the diced strawberries.
  3. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, cut side up. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For a tangier flavor, you can use buttermilk instead of regular milk in the dough
• Avoid overfilling the rolls with strawberries to prevent them from becoming soggy
• Serve warm with a cup of coffee or tea for the ultimate breakfast experience
Food Safety:
• Ensure milk is warmed to the correct temperature (110°F) to activate yeast without killing it
• Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
