Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk around 110°F
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Oven
  • Whisk

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add granulated sugar, pumpkin puree, melted butter, salt, and pumpkin pie spice to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 16x12 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  11. Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!

Chef's Tips:
• For best results, use fresh pumpkin puree or high-quality canned puree
• Avoid over-kneading the dough to keep the rolls soft and fluffy
• Serve with a warm cup of coffee or tea for the ultimate fall treat
Food Safety:
• Ensure milk is warmed to around 110°F to activate yeast without killing it
• Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to a week
