Ingredients

  • 1 cup cups unsalted butter melted and cooled slightly
  • 2 cups cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup cups chocolate chips optional, for extra chocolate goodness

Equipment

  • 9x9 inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Sifter

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving. Enjoy your thick, fudgy brownies!

Notes

Chef's Tips:
• For an extra fudgy texture, slightly underbake the brownies
• Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent tough brownies
• Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast
Food Safety:
• Ensure eggs are fully incorporated to avoid any risk of undercooked eggs
• Store brownies in an airtight container to maintain freshness
